A few years ago, while leading instructional design, educational engineering, and innovation research at Tec de Monterrey, I learned that real change doesn’t come from ideas alone—it comes from how we live those ideas every day. There are three lessons from that time that continue to shape the way I approach leadership and innovation:
Innovation has to be part of the culture. If innovation doesn’t come from the team’s values and daily habits, the demands of day-to-day operations will eventually drown out any attempt at change.
The power of an empowered team. When people feel heard, included, and valued, motivation and commitment skyrocket. Inclusion and empowerment aren’t just fair—they’re strategic.
Learning and adaptability drive evolution. Continuous learning and openness to change are what allow teams to thrive in dynamic, challenging environments.
These lessons have become my compass for leading teams, designing strategies, and supporting transformation. In a world where change is the only constant, investing in culture, empowerment, and learning is essential.
